Updating Mom and Dad's Kitchen

Sometimes I have the tendency to believe that my mom updates her kitchen more than I do my underwear.  I can remember a bear theme...a duck theme...a food theme...and, well, she is at it again.  She now wants to decorate the kitchen in Fat Chef items!!!

Women are crazy.  :)

The original kitchen.  The fat chef items were already accumulating before we even began!
I was left with the task of making that happen.  So first things first, we needed to get rid of the old!  Mom had a wallpaper border that went around the center of the room.  We first removed that.  We then had to paint the wall to match the new items!!!  She chose a soft but very bright red to replace the old blue.

We had to Kilz the blue so that the red would go on better.

The primed wall now ready for new bright paint!
And finally, I installed a white border between the two color halves.  This is technically supposed to be a chair rail, but for aesthetic purposes, I installed it a little bit higher than the chairs would actually hit.

The new color!!!  What a change!
The project wasn't too bad.  We didn't encounter too many hiccups, although I was very frustrated that my trim piece ended up cracking below the light switch.  We fixed it with glue, but it drove me nuts!!!  That stuff was so cheap and hard to work with.

All in all, it was a success!  The kitchen is now updated!

The new kitchen!
Let the countdown to Mom's next taste change begin...cows?  Goats?  Bread?

We can only wonder.  :)
